Bode George Tells Obasanjo To Stay In His Farm In Ogun State

A former member of the Peoples Democratic Party Board of Trustees, Chief Bode George, has criticised former President Olusegun Obasanjo for his alleged interference in Nigeria's current politics and perceived loggerheads with the Goodluck Jonathan administration.

The one time South-West leader of the ruling party, made this statement in an interview he granted PUNCH online, where he also commented on topical national issues in Nigeria.

According to the interview, Bode George, who was a former military administrator in Ondo State, stated that Obasanjo has no need to be getting himself involved unnecessarily in Nigeria's politics.
He went further by urging the formner Head of State to stay in Ogun State, where 'we would all go to consult him'.

Bode George, who is one of the members of the ongoing National Conference in Abuja, advised Obasanjo to learn from former President Sheu Shagari and Gen. Abdusalami Abubakar, who he said have enjoyed praises from Nigerians because of their calmness on politics and other national issues.

In his words: "He (Obasanjo) is dancing to music which only he can hear. He has no need to be getting himself involved unnecessarily. Baba Obasanjo should stay in Ogun State, where we would all go to consult him. Look at former President Sheu Shagari and Gen. Abdusalami Abubakar (retd.), who many say birthed democracy. Abdulsalami is being praised today. You should do things that will make you be remembered for good tomorrow. After two terms and a glorious ending, he should be a father to all."

As a member of the National Conference, what’s your view over the debate on immunity clause?

Delegates raised many issues for and against the clause and the proponents believe that why should there be anyone higher than the law and you remember that even in America no one is above the law. Some delegates believe that if there was an allegation, no matter how frivolous, you will be investigated and the recent one was that of Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinsky over the relationship he was alleged to have had with the lady. So, the fact that people trusted you to go and manage the resources of their nation on their behalf does not exclude you or make you a superhuman above the law. Proponents in support of the clause argued that why should you allow frivolous cases hold an elected executive down? I support that the clause should be removed. It will assist our democratic growth. No Nigerian can be higher than another Nigerian. We are all equal before the law and you know the beauty of it? If you go to any court of law, you will see the statue of Justice blindfolded with a sword and a scale. So, who are we to continue with immunity?

How do you see the public endorsement of Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, a governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress by the traditional ruler of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Akinolu?

I was shocked because the kabiyesi is my friend and we have known each other for a long time. We agree on everything except politics. He should be the father of all. He is the Oba of Lagos and not Oba of APC and he should follow in the footsteps of his fathers. So, how will we approach the Kabiyesi for royal blessings? Will he bless us or curse us? So, I leave it like that.

A backlash of criticism has greeted the Federal Government’s handling of Chibok abduction. What’s your view?

On the issue of Chibok, I look at it from both military and civilian perspective. In a typical warfare, you can discern but in this scenario, you don’t know who the enemy is. They may be at the table with you, planning and discussing. In insurgency, the tactics is different. They are opening their mouths saying Jonathan does not know what to do. Bola Tinubu too is opening his mouth to say this. Does he know what to do? When he hears the sounds of a gun can he wait? Every Nigerian must be concerned about this. Our military has performed brilliantly in every part of the world they have been sent to. Now, do you think it’s a matter of just going there and rooting them out? The President said something at the inter-party conference. He said he would love to be President but not at the expense of the life of one Nigerian. The Chibok case is a national disaster and should be of concern to all Nigerians. I detest the methodology adopted by Oby Ezekwesili, she is looking for cheap popularity. If it was her daughter that was there, she would not be castigating the government but her sympathy would be suggestive.

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo is always at loggerheads with the Goodluck Jonathan administration. Why?

He is dancing to music which only he can hear. After two terms and a glorious ending, he should be a father to all.

Nigerians have condemned the multi-million pension being giving to some serving and ex-governors in the country. As a former military administrator, are you benefiting from this too?

The Lagos State Guest House on Kofo Abayomi was given to Bola Tinubu as his parting gift. What did he do to deserve this? Does someone like him deserve pension after eight years in Government House? The pension law says that he must have two houses in Lagos, two in Abuja plus the financial benefit. When they said on the floor of the plenary that this was what was approved in Akwa Ibom. I called the governor and he said they have cancelled it and I said God will bless you. That is a man that respects the public opinion. but Tinubu is still collecting his own, he has not rescinded, he will say his Assembly approved it. But I can tell you something, the next election as the governor of the PDP is sworn in Lagos, that money will be used to alleviate the suffering of the people of Lagos. As a former governor during the military era, we were purely on a non-regimental appointment. So, your salary was still being paid and your rank remained your rank and when you leave, you will be paid as an ex-general and that is what I am still getting which is just about N100,000 every month. The money is too small and we have been shouting that there is a need to take care of our retirees so that we don’t end up in penury but that is not to say that Ondo State, where I served as military governor should pay me pension.

Religion has become a factor in Lagos politics. Is the PDP going to choose its governorship candidates along religious lines?

Religion has never played out in Lagos politics. For example, my immediate older sister is an alhaja, born in a Christian family but married to a Muslim, I sent her to hajj. My younger brother is married to a Muslim. Bola Tinubu did two terms and Babatunde Fashola too. Fashola’s wife is also a Christian but people are agitating somehow. On our political calculation we cannot wish that away. We must put it there for us to land properly. Unnecessary political interference is already an issue in the polity of Lagos and if you don’t care, you do so at your peril but when we get to the bridge, we will cross it but it is a very strong parameter in our political calculation. We have a lot of high quality people and people are demanding for a reliable and mature candidate and we are still searching. As the leader, I don’t dictate, we allow everybody, both Christians and Muslims, we consider the opposition as well, and that is the methodology. We will know by September, October when the heat begins. All options are on the table, we won’t shut our doors.

On October 26, 2009 a Lagos High Court sentenced Bode George to a two year jail term for fraud he allegedly committed while serving as the chairman of the Nigeria Ports Authority board.

While on December 14, 2013, the Supreme Court voided the term, saying that George was tried under a law that did not exist at the time.

Meanwhile, it could be recalled that President Jonathan recently appointed the wife of Bode George, Roli Bode-George, as the new Director General of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

The Fabulous Life Of The World’s Richest Man Worth $79 Billion (PHOTOS)

With a net worth of approximately $78.9 billion, Microsoft cofounder Bill Gates is the wealthiest man in the world.Gates has been a public fixture ever since he and Paul Allen started a computer revolution in the 1980s. He has all of the toys you would expect from the world’s richest man, from a private jet to a 66,000-square-foot home he nicknamed Xanadu 2.0.Yet as his wealth has grown, Gates has done more and more philanthropy work, donating billions of dollars to charity projects through the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
Bill Gates was born on October 28, 1955 in Seattle, Washington. Son of a lawyer and a schoolteacher, he was an argumentative but brilliant child. As a teenager, his appetite for knowledge was so great that he read the entire World Book Encyclopedia series from start to finish.
His parents enrolled him at the Lakeside School, a rigorous Seattle private high school that future Microsoft cofounder Paul Allen also attended. Gates often credits his discovery of computers to the tools he gained at Lakeside. “The experience and insight Paul Allen and I gained here gave us the confidence to start a company based on this wild idea that nobody else agreed with—that computer chips were going to become so powerful that computers and software would become a tool that would be on every desk and in every home,” he said in a 2005 speech at the school.
After graduating from Lakeside in 1973, Gates headed to Harvard. Though he entered as a pre-law major, he soon changed course and quickly worked his way through the university’s upper-level math and computer science classes.
Harvard is where Gates met Steve Ballmer, whom he would later bring to Microsoft and eventually promote to CEO of the company. Although they lived down the hall from each other in Currier House, they met during a graduate-level economics class. The pair remain good friends today.
Two years later, Gates dropped out of school to found Microsoft with Paul Allen. Though he never earned his bachelor’s degree, Harvard awarded him an honorary doctorate in 2007. “I’m a bad influence. That’s why I was invited to speak at your graduation,” he said at the commencement ceremony. “If I had spoken at your orientation, fewer of you might be here today.”
While he was still in school, Gates started developing software for MITS Altair, the world’s first personal computer. In 1977, Gates and Allen moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico, where MITS was based, to set up their young software company. Pictured here are the 11 original Microsoft employees.
In 1979, Gates and Allen relocated Microsoft to their hometown of Seattle, first setting up shop in the suburb of Bellevue and later moving to Redmond.
Microsoft released Windows in 1985 and went public in 1986. By 1987, 31-year-old Gates was a billionaire.
In 1995, Gates became the richest man in the world, with an estimated fortune of $12.9 billion. He’s been at or near the top of the list of the world’s richest ever since.
In 1998, Microsoft was brought to court on charges that the company was abusing its power as a software monopoly. Gates had a very mixed public reputation at the time.
Gates met his future wife, Melinda, at a press event in 1987. She was a Microsoft employee and later moved up to become an executive of interactive content. They married in 1994, and she eventually left the company to pursue charity work.
Bill, Melinda, and their three children live in this massive, high-tech home in Medina, Washington. The home has some incredibly futuristic features, including an underwater sound system in the pool and computerized pins that the house can read to customize music, temperature, and lighting. The house has an astonishing 24 bathrooms, plus a garage that can accommodate up to 23 cars. It’s worth an estimated $121 million.
Included in his mansion’s many rooms is a huge domed library filled with books. Gates is an avid reader, and he reportedly hired a rare-books dealer to stock his library for him. Among his possessions is Leonardo da Vinci’s “Codex Leicester,” a 15th-century manuscript that Gates bought at auction for $30.8 million in 1994.
Gates has an extensive art collection as well. In 1998 he set a record for American art when he paid $36 million for Winslow Homer’s “Lost on the Grand Banks.” He also owns pieces by American artists Andrew Wyeth and William Merritt Chase.
Last year, Gates paid $8.7 million for a Mediterranean-style home in Wellington, Florida. The family had previously rented the house while they were in Florida for daughter Jennifer’s equestrian competitions. The home includes several horse-friendly features, like a 20-stall barn and a show-jumping arena.
Gates likes to take educational trips with his son. They’ve toured mines, electric plants, and missile solos, and they’ve even taken a trip to the Large Hadron Collider in Geneva, Switzerland. “He likes learning along with me,” Gates said to Quartz.
He’s also been known to spend some time at Apussuit Adventure Camp, a remote ski center in Greenland. The resort has no lifts and few people.
Gates has always had a thing for fast cars. Over the years, he’s owned a Porsche 930 Turbo, a Mercedes, a Jaguar XJ6, a Carrera Cabriolet 964, and a Ferrari 348. In the early years of Microsoft, he bought a 1979 Porsche 911 that he used to race around the desert.
Paul Allen had to bail him out of jail after one such incident in 1977. The Porsche 911 was auctioned off for $80,000 in 2012.
When he bought his Porsche 959 in the late ’90s, the car was held up at customs because it had not yet met EPA standards. Gates, along with several other wealthy Porsche owners, put up such a fight that the Clinton administration passed the “Show and Display” law, which allows certain imported vehicles to be exempt from Federal Motor Safety Standards if the car is historically or technologically significant.
Playing tennis is one of Gates’ favorite hobbies. Here he high-fives Jeff Bezos during a 2001 charity match.
He counts legendary investor Warren Buffett among his close friends. When Gates wanted to propose to Melinda in the early 1990s, Buffett helped the couple pick out a ring. They’ve taken many trips together, and have even competed in bridge and table tennis tournaments. Gates sits on the board of Berkshire Hathaway, Buffett’s investment firm, and Buffett has donated billions to the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Here they attend a basketball game with rapper Ludacris.
Gates stepped down from his position as CEO of Microsoft in 2000, taking on a more limited role as chairman. Nowadays, he serves as technology advisor to current CEO Satya Nadella. When he’s not working on something with Microsoft, Gates and wife Melinda travel to do charity work through their foundation.
The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation has had its hand in a number of projects, from eradicating diseases in remote corners of the world to developing richer sources of food for impoverished people.
Gates reportedly paid $21 million for his private jet back in 1997. It has definitely come in handy as he travels to far-flung places for his charity work. “Owning a plane is a guilty pleasure,” he said during an AMA on Reddit. “I do get to a lot of places for Foundation work I wouldn’t be able to go to without it.”
In 2010, Bill and Melinda teamed up with Warren Buffett to start a campaign called “The Giving Pledge,” which encouraged fellow billionaires to donate at least half of their wealth to philanthropy. Paul Allen, Larry Ellison, Steve Case, and Mark Zuckerberg are among those who have signed the pledge so far.
Gates has made a number of investments in startups like Hampton Creek, which aims to find plant replacements for eggs. He is also backing several projects developing next-generation condoms, in the hopes that they could help stop the spread of HIV and AIDS

Narrating what happened on that fateful day to Premium Times from his hospital bed at the National Hospital, Abuja, Michael, a student of the Federal University of Technology, Minna said when school is on break, he works as a phone repairer at the plaza which is visited by hundreds of Abuja residents daily, to earn extra money for school.

On the day of the incident, towards the close of work, he said a customer had brought his hardware for his repair, so he told him to wait at his stand while he took the phone to a colleague of his on the other side of the plaza to help him with the repairs.

He explained, "The repairs were taking too long so I headed back to ask my customer to wait a bit longer. I was just two steps away from the plaza when I heard a loud sound. Before I could turn around, my hands and legs were on fire. I had to run as fast as my legs could take me, to put out the fire on my body and also to prevent my whole body from burning up.

"I could not tell if I was still on fire. All I knew was that my whole body was so hot and for a second I was restless. It was a friend of mine that held me and took me to the street were a man helped and took me to Maitama Hospital before I was referred to National Hospital."

Michael was one of the lucky ones who survived the blast at Emab plaza which killed 21 people who according to several witnesses were mostly petty street traders who hawk fruits like bananas and mangoes to visitors at the plaza.
Those who survived the blast were rushed to the Maitama Hospital from where some, like Michael, were taken to the National Hospital.

According to some other victims who had recounted what happened said the suicide bomber was pretending to be drunk when he was stopped from going into the plaza through the exit gate.

Though no group has yet claimed responsibility for the blast, one of the suicide bomber was killed by the military while another was arrested with a second unexploded bomb packaged in a bag.

This Prostitute Has Slept With 10,091 Men [PHOTOS]

Ms Gwyneth Montenegro has slept with 10,091 men, binged on cocaine and blew tens of thousands of dollars on a new car and clothes. Now Gwyneth Montenegro has lifted the lid on the world of escorts revealing her seedy lifestyle despite being raised by devout Christians. At the height of her career, Ms Montenegro was paid $500 to $1000 an hour as a elite escort.
Her life had become a whirlwind of drug- and alcohol-induced sexual encounters and orgies. Ms Montenegro worked all over Australia and was flown to exotic destinations to do her job. But despite the good times she had as an escort, the 36-year-old said if she could have her time over again, she would not have gone down that path.
In her recently released book appropriately titled 10,000 Men and Counting – Ms Montenegro writes very frankly about how she was gang-raped at 18, started dancing on table tops at 19 and how she became a ‘high-end’ escort by 21.
But the now-business entrepreneur didn’t start her life out as a wild child. The Melbourne woman was born into a family with deep Christian values and wanted to ‘save herself’ until the right man came along.
She started in the sex industry when she was 21 years old after she was a table top dancer for three years
She started in the sex industry when she was 21 years old after she was a table top dancer for three years
But after she was gang-raped during a night-out at a club, coupled with her low self-esteem and her lust for money, she started off table top dancing before heading into sex work.
‘I saw an ad for table top dancing back when I was about 19,’ Ms Montenegro said.
‘I was very naïve – it’s like I fell off the bus.
‘I got pretty drunk and I made $1000 cash on the first night.
‘I thought that was amazing and I thought “I must be quite decent at it”.’
‘It actually gave me the confidence I never had,’ she said.
‘For the first time, I connected with people, with the other girls, and it made me flourish.
‘It was like a family. That’s the good side of it.’
But after three years, Ms Montenegro took the leap into the world of escorting working mostly in Melbourne.
Later in her career, as she ‘worked up the ladder’, she expanded her services to all over Australia and other parts of the world where escorting was legal.
Gwyneth Montenegro a pseudonym she created to pen her book said she went by many names while she worked in the industry.
